MIENcredible Hulk 2

Just over a couple months ago, as I was wrapping up a shot for a different video, the idea for MIENcredible Hulk just came to me out of nowhere so I shot it really quickly. Here’s the first MIENcredible Hulk video. After I put that first video together, it occurred to me that this character might be something worth exploring. It’s fun, creative, quick to shoot, and serves as sort of a test bed for visual effects.

The idea behind each clip or episode is to have the MIENcredible Hulk display a specific mutant super power. Unlike the Incredible Hulk, MIENcredible Hulk doesn’t have to become angry to unleash his powers. When he’s provoked and becomes angry, however, his size and powers increases, just like the Incredible Hulk. Below is the second MIENcredible Hulk video.

Behind the Scenes:
This video is a combination of 3 separate clips; 1) me walking into the garage and closing it, 2) me “busting” through the garage with the door wide open, and 3) a 3D version of the garage door broken into pieces using Lightwave 3D.

Some footage of the Occupy Portland camp I took one morning. While I understand the purpose, I think this camp is getting a little out of hand. If it weren’t for the signs along the perimeter of the the camp, you’d think this was just some sort of homeless community.

If you haven’t personally seen any of the “Occupy” camps on Wall Street, in Oakland, or other places, take a look at my footage and see for yourself. It’s filthy and I’m glad Portland’s mayor, Sam Adams, has finally given the occupants notice to move out before midnight on November 12, 2011. Protesters, however, aren’t ready to move.

“We understand a call has gone out to Oakland, Seattle and San Francisco and perhaps other cities encouraging people to come to Portland and engage in resistance,” the press release said.

Facebook vs. Google+

Competition is good for any industry. It’s healthy. And we all like to have options. In the area of social networking, Facebook is currently at the top for many reasons. If you use Facebook, especially as a business or something other than personal, you already know those reasons. Of course there are other social networking services, but quite honestly, there hasn’t been anything that comes close to what Facebook offers. That is, not until Google decided to get into the game.

When Google announced their social networking service, Google+, it seemed as though Facebook’s reign at the top would soon come to an end. Google+ was all the hype, especially because you could only get Google+ accounts by invitation only. I’m a big fan of Google, so naturally, I was excited to see what Google+ could offer and signed up right away. After a couple weeks of using Google+, my initial excitement turned into disappointment. G+ didn’t offer anything different from Facebook. The way stories are shared viewed are presented differently, but fundamentally, their G+’s offerings are identical to Facebook’s. As a business, G+ didn’t give me any reason to use its services because they didn’t have any services that catered to businesses. For this reason, my disappointment in G+ turned into wonder. As in, I wondered when G+ will fold and meet its fate like Google Wave and Google Buzz.

Today, with the announcement of Google+ Pages for businesses and brands, my wonder has turned to hope! For CHAOTIME, there’s finally a solid reason to use Google+. Even though it isn’t ready yet, I think this new service will give Google+ a much needed recharge and bring its activity level back up (my current G+ stream is a ghost town). Will this be the beginning of the end for Facebook? We’ll see just have to wait and see…
