Project Notes:
For this project, we used WordPress as the “CMS” of choice and a few widgets to enhance the visitor experience. WordPress is often viewed as just a blogging tool, but it’s actually more powerful than that. It’s definitely great for blogging, but WordPress is also a fully capable “mini” CMS for any small to medium sized business, or campaign. True, there aren’t a lot of options for a basic WordPress website, but more functionality can be added on with a ton of free third-party widgets and plugins. For the inexperienced web content manager, WordPress couldn’t be any more intuitive. Highly recommended!

Willamette Week’s Give!Guide 2008 Launched

Since 2006, OakTree Digital (my employer) has partnered up with Willamette Week every year to produce the Give!Guide‘s web site as a way to raise money for non-profit organizations in the Portland area. For 2008, the Give!Guide web site has a fresh new look (designed by me =]) and features an intro video by Richard Meeker, Willamette Week’s Publisher and the Give!Guide’s founder. When you have a moment, please check out the Give!Guide and donate to your favorite non-profit organization(s) – there are 55 non-profits to choose from. Besides feeling good about helping others, you also get a little something back for your donation too!
If you have a hard copy of the Willamette Week, check out OakTree Digital’s full page ad (pictured at the top of this post) in the printed copy of the Give!Guide. I designed the full page ad too =).
Community Association Partners
The Community Association Partners’ (CA Partners) web site is a project from a little while ago that I haven’t highlighted yet so I thought I’d talk about a few things I did for them. This company, CA Partners, is a homeowner’s association management company that needed a fresh new face and asked for my assistance in design and development. They required a simple site that is user/eco-friendly and portrays their long-term sustainability. The idea of “transparency” or “no hidden agenda” was also important. Using Google Analytics, I also provided some assistance in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to help boost their rankings.
