Oregon Brewers Festival 2008

Working downtown sure has its conveniences, especially when an event like the Oregon Brewers Festival is held right on the waterfront. I’m not a connoisseur but I DO like a good microbrew beer! Today I sampled 3 different beers; the Terminal Gravity IPA by Terminal Gravity from Enterprise, OR., the 100 Meter Red Ale by Eugene City Brewery, and the Bell’s Porter by Bell’s Brewery from Comstock, Michigan.

3 great beers on a warm and sunny afternoon made it very difficult to go back to work. It was a good thing Brian and I went during the weekday because the crowd was tolerable. However, if you’re going “hop” on over to join the festivities this weekend, be ready to fight a very large crowd!

Here’s a complete list of participating breweries.

Tilt Shift Fake Miniatures

This is my latest Photoshop kick lol!!! I recently discovered how to make real photographic scenes look like miniature environments and have been entertaining myself for a few hours now with Photoshop magic. It’s truly amazing! Here are a couple of pictures to show you what I mean. The image on the left was taken at Multnomah Falls and the picture on the right is the view from my deck. Both were real but made to look like miniature models with a Photoshop technique that creates a visual illusion-I’m able to create an effect that mimics an expensive Tilt Shift lens. Click them to view a bigger version.

What do you think? If you like these, you can view more at my Flickr account!

Flash for Collaborative Software Initiative

CHAOTIME just recently completed a new Flash banner for Collaborative Software Initiative. The difference in this Flash banner versus other Flash banners is that it’s completely XML driven and without any actual tweening. In other words, all the imagery is controlled outside of the Flash environment, which makes it easy to update for those who don’t know how to use Flash or don’t have Flash installed. While the animation is simple, updating it will be a breeze!

Check it out!
